About the Management Team

Tyler Bruch, President & CEO

Tyler started Bruchside Farms International in March 2003, now incorporated as Bruchside, Inc.  Tyler manages all investments and runs all operations in Brazil, including budgeting, marketing, risk management, crop production, and labor management.  Tyler has been actively involved in agriculture for many years, having grown up in a farming family in Iowa and co-managing crop production and labor for Bruchside Farms, Inc. in Iowa for four years prior to moving to Brazil, and he has over 5 years of farming experience in Brazil. 
Tyler is fluent in Portuguese, lives near the farm in Brazil, and runs the day-to-day operations.  He has a degree in Agriculture Studies from Iowa State University with an emphasis in economics, and he has also studied International Agriculture in Canada, Italy, Panama and Brazil. 
Tyler is a frequent presenter on Brazilian agriculture to universities and continuing education groups all over the Mid-West, He is also a contributing editor to the Corn and Soybean Digest Magazine and Speaks annually at the Commodity Classic. Tyler was selected by CNBC Busienss News for a documentary on international business. Princeton Premier selected Tyler into the 2008-2009 Young Business Leaders of the Country class, and he was featured by his alma mater, Iowa State University, as one of the Top Alumni for Success.

Art Hall, Vice President

Art directs all business and legal affairs in Brazil and the U.S. and participates in investment decisions.  Art is the sole shareholder of artah Holdings, Inc., an investment company, and has five years of investment experience.  He is an investment banker, attorney, and co-owner of Presidio Asset Management, a large-cap investment company, and he also serves as a City Council member in San Antonio, Texas and the Vice Chairman of the San Antonio Fire & Police Pension Fund and a Trustee of the San Antonio Fire & Police Health Pre-Fund.  Art is a graduate of Harvard University, Texas Tech Law and Business Schools, and the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. 
His expertise is finance and corporate law, and he received the Pforzheimer Foundation Scholar Award at Harvard and the Clifford Chance Business Law Prize for the highest academic award and the Calcott Pryce Subject Prizes in Banking and Finance, Corporate Insolvency, International Copyright, and Consumer Law at the University of Wales.  He has several articles that have been published in law and international finance journals, including his most recent article on international banking regulation published in the Journal of International Financial Markets (based in London) and the New York Law School Journal of International and Comparative Law. 
Art has worked for a US Senator, a Massachusetts Governor, and a Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice.  Fluent in Spanish, he is a former Professor of International Law and International Business at La Universidad Espiritu Santo in Guayaquil, Ecuador and a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and St. Mary's University Law School and Business School.

 

Eric Tieszen, Managing Partner & Field Technology

Eric's responsibilities focus on implementing a better technology base, Variable Rate Technology (VRT) Auto Steer, and he assists as our in house agronomist. He also participates in new investment decisions.
Eric grew up on a corn and soybean farm in Canistota, South Dakota.  He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Agronomy with Minors in Ag Marketing and Insect and Pest Management from South Dakota State.  He received his CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) certification in 2002 and obtained a Certificate in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) from Penn State in 2005. 
After college, Eric worked for Cargill as a Field Marketer where he assisted his clients with marketing and agronomic decisions.  For the last 4 years, Eric has been be employed by MaxYield Cooperative in North Central Iowa.  While with MaxYield, Eric managed program development and sales for SciMax, MaxYield’s farm asset management and precision agriculture department.  This allowed him to work with the product development teams of companies such as John Deere, Veris and Holland Scientific.
Eric and his wife, Amy, have two children, Ashley and Landon. The entire family lives in Luis Eduardo Magalhaes.
 

 

Lisandro de Quadros, Farm Manager

Lisandro's responsibilities include onsite farm manager and he oversees all daily operations.

Lisandro has over 13 years of agriculture experience in Bahia.  He previously managed Fazenda Serrah, a 24,000 acre operations.  Lisandro is responsible for labor and production goals and assists with management decisions.
Lisandro has a four year degree in Agronomy.

Kathy Gunderson, US Business Manager 

Kathy's responsibilities include taking care of all US business through the Global Ag Investment Office in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Kathy grew up in Emmetsburg, attended Iowa Lakes Community College and comes to Global Ag Investments with over thirty years experience in the business field, including accounting, management and customer relations.
Agriculture is also in her background as her husband, Dean, has farmed over thirty years in the Emmetsburg area.
Dean and Kathy have two children, Michael, an agronomy graduate of Iowa State University and Brittany, a student at Iowa State University.

 

Ed Burdorf, US Accountant

Ed serves as Global Ag Investments' Chief Tax Advisor & Accountant.
Ed Burdorf received his B.S. degree in accounting from Mankato State College, Mankato Minnesota December 17, 1971. He was admitted to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Minnesota March 19, 1974. He worked for 2 years in public practice in Minnesota. On April 22, 1974 he joined Anderson and Company in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was admitted as a partner in 1976.
On May 1, 1981 Ed and two others formed the accounting firm of Burdorf, Parrott And Associates, P.C. Ed is Currently the managing principal of that firm. Ed has served on several accounting and tax committees for the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants over the past 27 years. He is currently serving on the taxation committee.
Ed is currently certified to practice public accounting in Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska and has International Accounting experience.
The firm of Burdorf, Parrott And Associates, P.C. currently has a permit to practice in Iowa and Minnesota.
